Begining photographer....?
You don't have to buy a new camera in order to expand your knowledge about photography unless your specific goal is to explore the world of interchangeable lenses. Your camera is capable of the same kind of manual controls as the most expensive SLR. I submit that you will have greater success in improving your skills by exploring those controls along with learning more about concepts like aperture, shutter speed, ISO, depth of field, composition, and the nature of light. Learn what Av mode and Tv mode are used for; when it's appropriate to use full manual mode. Learn proper focus control and exposure variations. If you buy a new camera without improving your skills, you're going to get the same quality pictures from it that you're getting with your current camera.
