How do you change the tone of an image on the canon powershot SX 120 IS?

I recently bought a used canon powershot SX120 IS. It is in good condition, but i was wondering how you change the tone of the picture, say to take a picture in sepia, or black and white. I looked up the manual, and it told me the steps to do it. when i am on the picture taking screen, i press the func./set button, then i try and move the arrows up and down to get to the color setting tab. but when i press the buttons it just stays on the bottom two tabs, and it wont go upward. i tried resetting it, but that didn't work.
